On 30 October 2012
the Monetary Council of the Hungarian National Bank (Magyar Nemzeti Bank – MNB)
reduced the bank’s base rate – its rate on two-week MNB bills (két hetes
futamidejű MNB-kötvény) – by 25 basis points to 6.25%. The new rate will enter into effect tomorrow,
31 October. This is the third change in
the key interest rate so far in 2012: on 29 August the rate was reduced from
7.00% to 6.75%, and on 26 September it was reduced from 6.75% to 6.50%.

deposits of € 1,000 or equivalent are as follows:
EUR: 3.75%
USD: 3.00%
HUF (Hungarian forint): 8.12%
